Phorgy. A Joshua Tree adventure.

Several months ago I received an email from Heather Perera asking me if I wanted to take part in a get-together with other film photographers that was being held in Joshua Tree, CA in March.  I didn't know Heather at all.

Turns out, I didn't know anyone that was going.  I knew OF many of the invitees, but I have never met any of them in person.  This normally freaks me out.  But without hesitation, I committed to the trip.  I felt good about my decision right away.

Usually, things like this frighten me a little.  Or sometimes a lot.  There is comfort in knowing who you are going to be around and knowing you will have a "friend" present.  Not knowing how personalities will mix can be a deterrence in taking part in something that could end up being awesome.  But thats a risk you have to take to find out.

So I did.  I went out of my comfort zone and flew out to California for a 5 day adventure that included karaoke, 80's dancing, modeling, scorpions, 90 degree temps, kickass sunsets, RVs, angry cacti, and a crap load of nerding out on film.  I shared all of that with an incredible group of people.  Honestly, I was amazed how well 18 people - many of which didn't know each other - came together and had a great time.  The inspiration surrounding me at all times was incredible.  Everywhere I turned there was an opportunity to learn something, a friend to talk to, or take a picture.  It was truly a wonderful time and I'm honored to have been included on the adventure.

While this doesn't do much justice, here is a sliver of what I witnessed those 5 days.  Thank you to each and every one of you that I had the pleasure of meeting.  You had such a positive impact on my life.
