Laura + Tim. A Sunrise Engagement session in the Lehigh Valley.

A few days after Laura and Tim asked me to photograph their wedding Laura saw an Instagram post I made of a foggy morning where I live.  It was pretty much decided right there that their engagement session would be a sunrise one - and way out of the city setting.  I knew right away it was going to be amazing because the two of them were extremely excited and it didn't matter what time we shot, or how cold it was, they wanted awesome pictures.  When a couple is willing to put forth that effort they will be rewarded.

And that they were.

We each got up well before the sunrise to meet up.  I'm going to throw it out there that I had gotten home from a wedding the night before around 12:30/1 am and scheduling a sunrise session the morning after was not the smartest thing.  But I've learned in the past 5 years that doing the smart thing doesn't always yield the best pictures.  Laura kept me in mind and showed up with a box of pumpkin spice donuts and a large coffee.  How awesome is that?

We hung out.  They kept each other warm (it was hovering around the freezing mark).  I took a few pictures.  It was amazing and I will never forget it.  And I'm pretty sure the pictures turned out pretty sick as well!

If you are a client of mine, or future client, don't be afraid to ask to do a sunrise session - or even something unique and different.  You just may be rewarded with some incredible pictures.  I encourage all of you to take chances.
