Kauai, Hawaii. Travels.

For 12 years of my life, ages 16-28, I refused to fly.  I had a bad experience when I was 16 and when our plane landed safely I walked off and vowed never to fly again.  I vividly remember stepping into the aiport terminal in Philly and declaring that.

But gradually, I've been flying more and more each year.  My photography has allowed me to visit some places I never dreamed I'd see.  Hawaii included.  Each time I get a little freaked out and while its much better now, the anxiety is still there tensing up my muscles and mind.  I refuse to let it stop me and I'm determined to get out and see as much of the world as I can.  So when Catherine & Ben asked me to photograph their wedding in Kauai, the first thing I though was hell yeah!  The 2nd was that it was a long flight.  Its funny, I never thought of how far Hawaii is from the east coast.  Who the heck put this amazing island in the middle of the Pacific?

Kauai was breathtaking.  I got to photograph an amazing couple, hang out with amazing people, meet some new friends, eat some great food, and visit some obscenely incredible locations.  I fit in as much as I could over a few days.  There were many things I didn't get to see but that just means I have to go back.  I'm ok with that.

If you are interested, you can check out the Bonjournal I did about the trip.  It includes more details of what I did ... https://bonjourn.al/journal/156-kauai

I'll be posting the wedding in the next blog post so be on the lookout for that!
